The first week of Osprey Oars Selection Camp went. There were 27 inquiries for application and seven were accepted to attend. Five varsity rowers assisted in the instruction and they along with Boris and Peter made it possible to have a one on one ratio of instructor to camper. As a result the learning curve was steep and with nearly two hours of water time each day, by weeks end the campers were demonstrating a good level of understanding with sculling in singles, doubles and quads.
Two of the sophomore boys had the opportunity to stroke the three returning varsity quad rowers who placed 5th in the Nationals recently and were able to experience the feeling of quad moving at a good pace.
All campers had some time in the single and they double. We are ready to move into work on finer points during the rest of camp scheduled for the weeks of June 26, July 10 and July 17.
